Recipients and variables
Use the "Use values from trigger" panel to insert information from the automation trigger into messages and other automation fields.

A message that always contains the same text may not provide enough context. Variables let one automation create a different message each time it runs by inserting values from the event that triggered it.
The Panel#
Select "+ Use values from trigger" below a message field to open the "Use values from trigger" panel.
The panel has three tabs:
- Board
- Group
- Item
The Item tab groups its available values into Item columns, Subitem columns, Triggered by, and Other.
Select a value to insert it at the current cursor position.
The Variables#
| Variable | What It Inserts |
|---|---|
| {board.name} | The name of the board where the automation runs. |
| {board.id} | The identifier of that board. |
| {group.name} | The group containing the item. |
| {item.name} | The item's name. |
| {item.id} | The item's identifier. |
| {item.creator} | The person who created the item. |
| {triggered_by.name} | The person who caused the automation to run. |
| {date.now} | The time when the action ran. |
The Item columns and Subitem columns accordions also list the board's available columns. You can use them to include values such as a status, owner, or due date directly in a message.
