Roles at a glance
The five roles, what each can do, and which of them use a paid seat.

Everyone in your account has exactly one role. It's set when they're invited and can be changed later by an administrator.
| Role | What they can do | Uses a paid seat |
|---|---|---|
| Owner | Everything an admin can do, plus transferring ownership. Shown for reference, it can't be assigned from the members table. | Yes |
| Admin | Edit boards, and manage members and billing. | Yes |
| Member | Full work access: view and edit boards. | Yes |
| Viewer | Read-only, and unlimited in number. Opens boards, switches views, applies filters, changes nothing. | No |
| Guest | External, read-only. Free, but the number of guests is capped by your plan. | No |
What read-only actually feels like#
Viewers and guests aren't shown controls they can't use, buttons and menus are hidden or greyed out rather than failing when chosen. They still manage their own profile fully.
Inviting people#
Administrators invite from the members area: enter email addresses as chips, pick one role for the whole batch, and add an optional message. Pending invitations are listed on their own tab and can be revoked. If an invitation can't be sent, the chip says why, "Already a member", "Already invited", "Needs a paid seat", "Guest limit reached" or "Member limit reached".
