Condition reference

The optional middle of the sentence, seven conditions that narrow when a recipe runs.

4 min readUpdated

Use optional conditions to narrow when an automation runs. OurOpero provides seven conditions, each of which further restricts the automation.

Conditions are optional. Without a condition, the automation runs whenever its trigger fires.

Select "Add condition" to the right of the trigger or below an existing condition. The picker contains seven conditions in a single list. There are no groups or either/or branches. Each additional condition narrows when the automation can run.

All Seven Conditions#

ConditionWhat You Set
AlwaysNothing. This explicitly indicates that the automation has no additional restrictions.
If status is somethingScope, a status column, Is or Is not, and one or more labels.
If dropdown meets conditionScope, a dropdown column, Is or Is not, and one or more options.
If person is someoneScope, a people column, Is or Is not, and who to compare against: me, the person who triggered the run, or a specific member.
If item is in groupA group on the current board.
If column is emptyScope, any column, and Is or Is not. The condition then reads "is empty" or "is not empty".
If number meets conditionScope, a Number column, a comparison, and a value entered in the "Enter a number" field.

The Item / Subitem Scope#

Every condition except "If item is in group" includes a scope token set to Item or Subitem.

The scope determines which columns the condition checks: the board's own columns or the columns on its subitems.

Is and Is Not#

The status, dropdown, person, and empty conditions use the same two operator options: Is and Is not.

"Is not" reverses the entire comparison. For example, "If status Is not Done, Stuck" applies when the status is any label other than Done or Stuck.

Number Comparisons#

"If number meets condition" provides six comparison options:

  • equals
  • not equals
  • greater than
  • greater or equal
  • less than
  • less or equal
