Notification preferences
Choosing what you're notified about, and whether it reaches you in the app, by email, or both.

Open your profile from the user panel at the bottom of the sidebar, then choose Notifications, "Choose what you're notified about, and where."
The In app / Email matrix#
Below the desktop switch is a grid of events, grouped into sections, with two checkboxes each: In app and Email. Clear a box to stop that kind of notification reaching you on that channel. Each change saves on its own; if one can't be saved, it reverts and says "Couldn't save preference".
Some events have their In app box ticked and locked. Those are considered essential and can't be turned off; you can still turn their email off.
While you're away#
"Don't send me email notifications while away" pauses notification email when your status says you're away. In-app notifications are unaffected, they're waiting for the bell when you come back.
