Why Save does nothing
The automation builder does not display error messages. Instead, incomplete parts of the recipe briefly shake, and saving remains blocked until the trigger and all actions are complete.

When you select "Create automation" and nothing happens, watch the automation sentence instead of looking for an error message.
If you are unsure what is missing, select the save button again and watch which tokens move. The part that shakes needs to be completed.
What "Complete" Means#
An automation can be saved when the trigger and every action are fully configured. Conditions are optional, but any condition you add must either be completed or removed.
- The trigger has a selected trigger instead of the "When this happens" prompt.
- Every column, group, or label token in the trigger has a value.
- Every time-based trigger has a schedule. "When date arrives" and "When subitem date arrives" also require a Date setup.
- Every action has a selected action, and every token within it has a value.
- "Notify Someone" and "Send Email" require a body. The title or subject is optional.
- "Create Sub-item" requires a name.
- "Move Item to Board" and "Create Item in Board" require a target board and group.
Finding an Incomplete Token#
Open each token and check that it contains an actual value rather than its placeholder.
Placeholder text appears in grey, such as "Choose group", "Pick a column", or "Add text". Grey placeholder text does not count as a saved value.
If the sentence looks complete but Save still refuses to work, check the scope token on your actions. Switching an action between Item and Subitems can clear a token you previously configured, so a recipe that looked complete may become incomplete after the change.
