Run history and live status
The execution log inside the Automation Center, and the live toasts outside it.
3 min readUpdated
View the execution log for automations on the board and see live notifications when automations run.
An automation that appears to do nothing can be difficult to troubleshoot. "Run history" shows whether an automation ran and what happened when it did.
Opening the Log#
Open the Automation Center and select the "Run history" tab, headed "View the execution history of your automations".
The log includes every automation on the board, with the newest entries first.
Use the four filter pills to narrow the list:
- All
- Success
- Failed
- Skipped
"Skipped" means the trigger fired, but a condition was not met. This is often the reason an automation appears not to have run.
Reading an Entry#
Each entry shows:
- The automation's name.
- A status chip: succeeded, failed, or skipped.
- The item the automation ran on and the person who triggered it.
- The error message in red when the run failed.
- The time the automation ran.
| What You See | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Loading logs… | The execution log is still being loaded. |
| Couldn't load logs | The log could not be loaded. Try switching filters or reloading the page. |
| No execution logs yet | No automation has run on this board yet. Logs will appear when an automation runs. |
Live Toasts#
You can see automation activity without opening the Automation Center. While working on the board, small notifications appear in the bottom-right corner, with up to three visible at a time:
- "An automation is running…", "automation" is a link that opens the Automation Center.
- "An automation triggered: <name>", shows the name of the automation that ran.
- "An automation triggered an app action", appears when the automation's recipe cannot be named.
Each toast disappears automatically after a few seconds. Select the X to dismiss one earlier.
