Subitem columns
Subitems carry a column set of their own, separate from the board's main table.

The columns on the subitem table aren't the board's columns. Subitems have an independent set, so you can track different information at the step level, an owner and an estimate, for example, on a board whose main table tracks status and dates.
Adding one#
Expand any item and choose the + at the end of the subitem table's header row, labelled "Add subitem column". You get the same column-name field and type picker as the main table.
Managing them#
Each subitem column header has its own menu, offering Rename, Move left, Move right, the column restrictions, and Delete column.
