The board types

Three kinds of board, and why nearly everything in this collection applies to only one of them.

3 min readUpdated

The Task Board#

This is the board most people mean when they say "board". Its content sits under a first tab labelled "Main Table", and it is the only type with groups, items, subitems, columns, filters, and saved views. Every other article in this collection describes a Task Board.

The File Board#

A File Board keeps files rather than rows. Its content sits under a tab labelled "Files" and opens directly in the gallery. There is nothing to filter, sort, or hide because there are no columns.

The Doc Board#

A Doc Board is the third type. It holds a collaborative document under a tab labelled "Doc" rather than a table, so none of the group, item, or column behaviour below applies.
